WiFi for long distances: some practical experiences
conference by Ermanno Pietrosemoli

Although WiFi was conceived for local area networks,  it can be extended to cover long distances  by means of some simple modifications.
These allow for the building of low cost telecommunications networks that can be built and maintained by small organizations without resorting to traditional telecommunications  providers.
Examples of installations in several countries and experiments to show the feasibility of 380 km links will be described.
