Trobada friki-mesh

Aprofitant la visita de l'axel neumann fem una trobada a la UPC de Manresa. Una mica d'idea del que volem parlar

We're thinking to make a "kind-of" brainstorm and/or experimentation about several things that cab be useful for our network. We need to test a lot of options, so maybe we can choose the ones that fits us most:
1-. Wifi configuration tweaking to improve mesh performance
2-. Test another workarounds (if any) to solve the madwifi bug (rate calculation errors that ends hanging the harware) in openwrt + ad-hoc mode
3-. Get rid of vpn tunnels in our configuration

To avoid multihop performance degradation we use an ospf backbone (either by LAN and point-to-point wifi links) that connects all the "supernodes". Then we create an vpn link between a mesh box in each contiguous "supernode" and between mesh boxes in the same "supernode". Altough this configuration works, the vpn configuration is tedious, prone to errors and resource (CPU, IP...) consuming and would be very interesting to get rid of it

4-. Any idea you have in what our network can be useful to you
