NODE CREATION

kenneth.williams's picture

I am trying to create a node and each time I submit it is rejected on the grounds tha the LAT and LONG must be numeric but I am putting it in

numbers for example E002º 14' 532" but apparently this is wrong, how exactly am I supposed to write it so that it will be accepted?

Just numbers or over the map

Maybe will be easier to use the map. Go to the Badalona map:

http://guifi.net/en/node/3759/view/map

And create the node from there (zoom in, and then click over the map)

Or use just numbers, positive numbers means north or east.. Negaftive south or west.. In your case both have to be positive (2.xxx or 41.xxx). You can't also use the (º" and ') characters. If you want to enter the number in such format, you need to place each number in each field.

No signal from guifi to my router.

I have created the node and this has been comfirmed, my router is installed with excelente signal from router to computor but the path on

the map from internet to router is crossed out, the diognostic tool says it might need adjustment in order that windows can connect also

at some stage I got a message saying another computor on the network has the same adress it is driving me mad, any ideas what is wrong?

Ken.

Hi Ken, first open your node

Hi Ken, first open your node page:
http://guifi.net/en/node/26556
Search form and add a new wireless device, select the model and firmware and write the MAC address of your device.
Now you can create a link to the access point.
Once done, you will be assigned an IP address. Save the changes and looking at the menu you'll see a text / link that says unsolclic

still no success

Hi thanks for your attention, I have followed your instructions as far as I can but I don't seem to be getting anywhere perhaps

someone can check what I have done and if I have done anything wrong and where I go from there.

Hi, I deleted a device

Hi,

I deleted a device server, and I set the link on the router device, you need to see as it is configured.

Now you just have to configure your Linksys WRT54G using the last step called unsolclic, you can view you unsolclic at http://guifi.net/guifi/device/19053/view/unsolclic

how do I take the next step

Hi, I opened the unsolclic but what do I do with it? for instance the first command is to open a telnet/ssh session on my device and run script

below, what is telnet/ssh and how do I open it, I take it that by device you mean my router. Ken.

go to your linksys

to put the "unsolclic" in your linksys:

go to console,  in windows: start > run... >  cmd.exe

type:  telnet 192.168.1.1

user/passw:  root/admin

when you are in... copy all "unsolclic" and paste to telnet, and wait to linksys reboot the system

if you go to linksys webpage, now the user/passw is  guifi/guifi    and the configuration is added to your router

Have followed your instructions.

I have just followed your instructions above and it comes back with the message "no se reconoce como un comando interno o externo"

and now I can't even open linksey when I put the address 192.168.1.1 and press search an error message page from guifi.net appears on screen.

Ken.

haven't telnet

If you put telnet in console and recive this message is becouse you haven't this program.

What operating system have you?

..then, if you cannot insert the "unsolclick", it's imposible it  changed the router linksys configuration.

Any time can you acces to router webpage configuration?

Telnet problem

I am running windows "vista home premium" and I have just been to the activar o desactivar las caracteristicas de widows through the control

panel and acitvated all boxes that reffered to telnet and I am still getting the same message. Yes I can access the router page by putting the

instalation disc in and connecting the cable from router to laptop. I have been getting a message on boot up for some time saying media failure, I

don't know if this as anything to do with the problem, it tells me to check cable but I don't know what cable that would be there are no cables on a

laptop, I was getting this message long before I installed the router, do you think this could be related to my problem?

Ken.
